What are Mudras?
Mudras are hand gestures/postures, used in yoga, to channel and direct the flow of energy within the system. There are many different mudras and each has a specific purpose and effect on the mind-body complex.
Some of these effects include:
Balancing Energy
Each mudra has a specific effect on the flow of energy within the system, and practising mudras can help balance the flow of energy, restoring health and vitality.
Reducing Stress & Anxiety
Many mudras have a calming effect on the body and mind, making them a useful tool for reducing stress and anxiety.
Enhancing Concentration & Focus
Mudras are often used to enhance mental clarity, focus and concentration, which can support us in cultivating the discipline required to show up for our practice each day.
Improving Physical Health
Mudras have a variety of physical health benefits, such as improving digestion, reducing inflammation, and promoting overall health and well-being.
Enhancing Spiritual Awareness
Mudras help to open up the channels of energy in the body, promoting greater awareness and connection within ourselves, with others and with the greater whole.
