We have to not confuse the happiness of the ego with bliss consciousness. The happiness of the ego has an opposite, unhappiness.
The bliss of being which all the great masters have spoken about, that joy of heaven, that eternal joy, is not a location. It’s a state of consciousness.
Heaven is spoken of as an eternally joyous place but it is not a place. It’s a state of consciousness and, in that joy, tears are included. That joy does not have an opposite, tears are included in it. Sometimes, your heart is more filled with pain but that pain is not closing you down. It’s not suffering. It’s just pain of the world. It percolates as compassion when you see the suffering in the world. But the joy includes that, so this joy, this bliss, is not ignorant.
This bliss is not a denial of any aspect of life. It opens up our capacity to be with the whole of life. The bliss of being.
So, you can have the space for pain but within that you don’t have to create the melodrama. You don’t feel compelled to create a whole story around it. You can honour that pain but you don’t feel guilty that you are not melodramatic about it. It’s pain. It’s an experience. That’s all it is.
And still that ocean of bliss remains. No experience is able to overshadow, completely, the ocean of bliss.
Blissfulness is dynamic, not static. If it was static, it would collapse. It would cease to be. So, when you are experiencing bliss, it’s never the same.
Have you experienced your own inner bliss? It’s never the same.
When you experience God in your own consciousness, that God consciousness arises in your chosen way. For some it’s light. For others, it can be a form, a feeling. When it happens in you, you never say, “Ah, I’ve seen this one before. This God consciousness is getting old. Ok, it’s you again,” said nobody ever.
It’s dynamic, ever changing. It’s like the full moon. You look at the moon, and you lose yourself in its incredible beauty. So beautiful! But when you look at it on the next full moon, it will not be the same and the experience of that full moon will not be the same.
It’s dynamic. It has a familiarity, but it’s not sameness. And this familiarity is not contemptuous. It does not breed contempt. Familiarity, when interacting with sameness, breeds contempt. In the absence of dynamism, familiarity breeds contempt but with dynamism, it does not breed contempt. It breeds intimacy, trust, great appreciation, a great sense of belonging, a great sense of knowingness.
A drop of this bliss will sustain you for lifetimes so lean in. Experience ecstasy now!
