Understanding Akasha Mudra
"Akasha" means ether or space, and "Mudra" means seal or gesture and so Akasha Mudra is a hand gesture that represents the element of akasha, or space. It’s a key to accessing the vast expanse of consciousness that becomes available as we go beyond the stories of the mind. It invites the practitioner to connect with their boundless nature.
How to Practice Akasha Mudra
To practice Akasha Mudra, find a comfortable seated position with the spine erect and the body relaxed. Interlace your fingers in front of the centre of your chest, with index fingers together and pointed straight up towards the ceiling. Thumbs are crossed over each other, right over left.
Softly, close your eyes and bring your awareness to the breath, allowing it to flow naturally and effortlessly. As you hold Akasha Mudra, feel yourself expanding beyond the confines of the physical body, merging with the vast expanse of consciousness that permeates the entire universe.
Allow yourself to surrender to the experience of spaciousness, trusting in the inherent wisdom and guidance of the cosmos.
