Trust is to be at Ease in the Presence of the Unknown
If you are really interested in freedom, in living a free life, then trust has nothing to do with another person. It has nothing to do with anyone else.
The trust we are speaking of is the trust in your own spirit that, irrespective of the circumstances, of the fluctuating tendency of life, you won’t be haunted, you won’t give up your compassion. It’s the trust that, in your spirit, you have that brilliance that, irrespective of the storm, of the toxicity of thought, or the great burden of existence itself, you will still smile. You will find the little twinkle, that little brilliance, that innocence, that love, irrespective of what’s going on.
That’s the trust that liberates us. That’s the ultimate flowering of love.
When you can really come to that, all violence in you ends. You don’t want to control anyone anymore. You don’t give up your power to anyone anymore. You can just love them because you are in trust, in your heart. In your heart, you are in trust.
The mind cannot trust but trust is inherent in the soul.
Trust is not a thought. It’s a state of consciousness. It’s not an emotion. It’s not an arrow. It’s the quality of your being. When you make contact with your true Self, it just happens. You might not even call it trust. It just happens. There’s an ease in you, in spite of all the fluctuations.
The surface, the relative field of life, is meant to fluctuate. That’s its nature. There’s no creature who inhabits this field whose life does not fluctuate on the surface. So, the surface will keep fluctuating, but as you begin to discover that Self, trust happens merely by connecting with it.
Trust just happens. It’s a deep knowing, a deep connection with this eternal flow of love, that irrespective of the movement, irrespective of the circumstances, irrespective of the changing weather of life, irrespective of the state of possession or validation, or the state of your relationships, there is love, there is sacred, there is brilliance, there is aliveness. There is this deep courage to meet life with open arms, not to crawl into a corner and wait for a savior to arrive from the mist on a white horse.
If you really pay attention to your life, you will find that your life has always supported you. So, how can you ever doubt? How can you worry?
Irrespective of the content of your mind or your life, just this moment by itself is incredible. That you are present in a moment, experiencing the universe like it has never been experienced before and it will never be experienced again, is such a gift. In spite of all the reasons of the head, here you are.
